Olivia Bader
Outstanding Undergraduate Student Spring 2021
Olivia Bader is originally from Tucson, Arizona and enjoys hiking, riding horses, working out, and spending quality time with her dog Cookie. She is looking forward to graduating and pursuing her love for psychology. As of now, Olivia plans to join the Air Force as an officer and attend graduate school. She hopes to eventually get her doctorate in clinical psychology and conduct research. She has enjoyed her time at UCCS, and is thankful for the amazing professors that she had encountered along the way.
Paulina Bauman Baluck
Outstanding Undergraduate Student Fall 2020
Paulina Bauman Baluck is a 2020 graduate of UCCS. She earned bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice, with a certificate in Homeland Security. Paulina graduated with magna cum laude Latin honors and was one of three recipients selected as an Outstanding Psychology Student for Fall 2020. Paulina has been a TSA officer for the past three years and aspires to hopefully put her degrees to use by helping in the national and global fight to stop human trafficking and crimes against children.

Ahria Dominguez
Outstanding Undergraduate Student Spring 2021
Ahria Dominguez is originally from Southwest Nebraska, and happily married with an adorable dog! She came to Colorado Springs simply for a new adventure outside of a small town. Ahria instantly fell in love with both the city and UCCS! She works a part-time job, works in both Cognitive Psychology and Biopsychology labs, mentor students, and goes to school full-time. It's been anything but easy; however, Ahria has a great support system that keeps her going. She has been very fortunate to be able to be involved in so many fulfilling engagements. She greatly appreciates the opportunity to be an Outstanding Undergraduate Psychology Student for Spring 2021!
Lani Harris
Outstanding Undergraduate Student Spring 2021
Lani Harris works as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in Southern Colorado. Lani's work in the ABA field has fostered her interest in clinical psychology and helped to inform her research in psychometrically developing a self-report measure for the assessment of ASD symptoms under the supervision of Professor Fred Coolidge at UCCS. She looks forward to expanding her knowledge of clinical psychology and psychometric measurements as she begins the MA program in clinical psychology at UCCS next fall.

Wendi Kitzman
Outstanding Undergraduate Student Fall 2020
Wendi is graduating with BA degrees in both Psychology and Criminal Justice in Fall 2020. She is a member of Psi Chi, and Phi Kappa Phi, and Alpha Phi Sigma, having maintained a 4.0 GPA in both degrees while at UCCS. Wendi has volunteered in the community and is a former foster parent. Through these experiences, she felt called back to college to understand more about children and emerging young adults with maladjustment disorders. She is considering a Masters in Social Work, to further her education in this area. Wendi has been married to Steve for 30 years and has 5 children.
McKenzie Lockett
Outstanding PhD Student, Clinical Pscyhology, Trauma
This award is given to a student who has demonstrated exemplary performance as a PhD Student in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program in all areas of the program including research, clinical work, and leadership.
Kayla Neeley
Outstanding MA Student, Clinical Psychology
This award is given to a graduating student who has demonstrated exemplary performance as an MA student in the Clinical Psychology program.
Kelly O'Donnell
Becker Award
This award recognizes the graduate student (out of the approximately 20 first-year students) who has shown outstanding accomplishment in the statistics and research methods courses. The Becker Award, named for Dr. Lee Becker (Professor of Psychology, 1977 - 2001), includes a $2,000 scholarship for the award winner.
Jasmin Panique
Outstanding Undergraduate Student Spring 2021
Jasmin is currently a senior at UCCS and will graduate with her BA in Psychology in May 2021. Jasmin was born and raised in Germany and moved to the United States when she was 25. She is passionate about Psychology and has enjoyed the program at UCCS, where she learned from excellent teachers who challenged her, helped her move out of her comfort zone, and pushed her to grow. Jasmin has been a part of Dr. Lori James’ Language and Memory Processes (LAMP) lab since the fall semester of 2020 where she discovered her love for research. She will continue her academic career at UCCS in the Master of Social Work program. She aims to continue to contribute to research in the future as well as become a licensed clinical social worker. Jasmin loves spending time with her two daughters and husband, who have been very supportive of her being a non-traditional student.

Nichols Award
This award was established in the name of Professor David Nichols, the founding member of the UCCS Psychology Department, and it is awarded based on academic excellence. Professor Nichols always heartily encouraged and supported the Department's students, especially those who had successfully overcome adversity or achieved success under non-traditional circumstances.
Kaitlyn White
Outstanding MA Student, Psychological Science
Kaitlyn White is a second-year graduate student in the Psychological Science Cognition track at UCCS. Kaitlyn received her BA in psychology from UCCS in 2018. She currently works in Dr. Laith Al-Shawaf’s lab, where she studies emotions and cognition through an evolutionary perspective. After completing the master’s program at UCCS, Kaitlyn hopes to complete a Ph.D. program in evolutionary psychology.
Stacy Yun
Outstanding PhD Student, Clinical Psychology, Gerophyshology
Stacy Yun, M.A., is a fourth-year clinical psychology (geropsychology track) doctoral student at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) in the Aging Families Lab (PI: Dr. Sara Qualls). Prior to attending UCCS, she received her BA in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. Her research interests include aging and mental health disparities, minority aging, and end-of-life issues. She aspires to identify ways to better provide healthcare and mental health service access to minority older adults and ultimately develop culturally sensitive and effective interventions that target multiple generations of older immigrants with different levels of acculturation. Clinically, she is currently completing her final practicum training before internship at Rocky Mountain Healthcare Services Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). In her free time, she likes to try out new restaurants in Colorado Springs, drink wine, practice yoga and Pilates, and watch movies and documentaries.
