2021 LAS Awards

Olha Melnyk
Outstanding Graduate Student
Olha Melnyk received her Bachelors of Science and Master of Science in Physics from the Zhytomyr State University with honors. She joined the Applied Science Ph.D. program in Physics in Fall 2017. She is graduating with her Ph.D. this Spring semester with a flawless GPA. She studies the basic and advanced properties of liquid crystal materials with a deep interest in the biotechnological application of liquid crystal materials. After graduating this semester she plans to continue research as a postdoc in this field. The Physics Department wishes Olha lots of success in her future research endeavors. 
Noah Daniel Watts 
Outstanding Undergraduate Student 
Noah Watts will graduate Magna Cum Laude this spring, with a GPA in his physics classes of 3.727.  Noah’s talent and hard work will undoubtedly pay off in graduate school where he’s planning on becoming an experimental nuclear physicist.  It was a pleasure having Noah as a student, and the entire Physics Department congratulates him on being named Outstanding Physics Student for 2021!
